What are ''Käsespätzle''?
Käsespätzle, or Käsknöpfle, are a traditional dish from the Arlberg. They consist of dumpling flour, eggs, water, salt, butter, roasted onions - and a special cheese mixture. The dish can be enjoyed plain, sweet or savoury: i.e. without an additional side dish, with potato salad or with apple sauce.
Why our cookery course?
What could possibly go wrong in life when you can cook delicious Kässpätzle? But jokes aside: Burg senior chef Gerhard Lucian will personally introduce you to the art of making Kässpätzle. According to the family recipe of Grandma Helga Lucian. You're guaranteed to find it only here.
Info and enrolment
Included in the course: Cookery course, cheese spaetzle and salad
Dates and times: In summer, on request. Everyone is welcome, with or without a hike.
Our tip: Hike first, cook later
The best way to cook and feast is to work up an appetite beforehand - for example by hiking the one-hour trail from Oberlech.
There is plenty to see along the way: Mountain cornflower, foxglove and orchids such as the yellow lady's slipper. If you're lucky, you might even spot a wild animal, such as the majestic golden eagle, which is at home here. In addition, the sound of cowbells usually wafts around your ears and the scent of mountain pine wafts around your nose.
